A record that had stood for more than a half century was wiped out on Saturday, Feb. 9, when Highland Park’s Andrew Vorobev swam the 100-yard butterfly in 52.03 seconds during the Central Suburban League North championships at Vernon Hills High School.

His time shattered the CSL record of :52.50 set in 1968 by New Trier’s Byron MacDonald.
