This year, Ravinia Elementary School won the 112 Education Foundation’s iRead contest. Students at the school read an average of more than 1,100 minutes each, and for their efforts, were awarded a highly-coveted trophy.

This reminded me of when I was in elementary school, and we would have annual reading challenges. Each student that read a certain number of minutes was awarded a free day pass to Six Flags Great America.

The Six Flags pass could not have been more coveted to the kids in my school.
