As I walked into Edgewood Middle School on Dec. 20, I could only think one thing — “Dogs! There are dogs in the building! I can’t wait to see them.”

I made my way to the school’s auditorium and excitedly sat in the front row to watch Micki Ross, a Highland Park resident and her best friend, Barbara Feldman of Riverwoods, as they introduced their two dogs — Carly and Max, who are trained therapy dogs.

Ross and Feldman talked about the importance of the human animal bond, and how animals help to relieve stress and anxieties from humans.
