Hundreds of walkers marched through Sunset Woods Park, June 2, with signs — but it wasn’t for a protest, or any political reason.

It was simply to encourage others to be kind.

The signs read slogans including “Kindness is key,” and simply “Be kind,” while participants also wore buttons with the slogan “Be kind.”

The event was spearheaded by Highland Park fourth-grader Phoebe Berkowitz, who said she was inspired by witnessing the Be Kind movement in Napa, Calif.
