Forty years after graduating from Highland Park High School, nearly 200 members of the class of 1979 gathered Sept. 27-28 for a weekend of music, laughter, reconnection and friendship.
The festivities began with a Friday kick-off party at The Wooden Nickel in Highwood. It featured a rousing performance by Cap’n Funk and The Groove Train, a rocking band of a classmate, Paul Howard. With about 100 expected, nearly 140 rolled in, and turned the volume up.
