According to debatedly-reputable online sources, the neighborhood of Fort Sheridan is haunted.

But Anne Maxfield, a member of the executive board of the Fort Sheridan Historical Society, said the rumors are just old stories.

Fort Sheridan was created as a form of protection for residents of the North Shore, who wanted to escape the violence that led to the Haymarket affair in Chicago, according to Maxfield.
