Avit Das couldn’t help but marvel at what was happening in the Glenview Park Center on the night of Nov. 8, as he served as master of ceremonies for the Indian Community of Glenview’s Diwali celebration.

“Growing up, I never thought it possible I could be part of something like this so close to home,” said Das, who grew up in Glenview and graduated from Loyola Academy in 1994.

Diwali is a spiritual festival of light that originated in the Indian subcontinent and signifies the victory of light over darkness and good over evil.
