For Highland Park resident Aksel Rifman, watching TV as a child was more than just a way to spend time. It was a passion, and it was an educational tool.

Rifman, who was born and raised in Morocco, said that he would spend “hours on TV,” because he was not allowed to leave his home frequently.

He took it in stride, and took full advantage of his TV-watching time, learning five languages through his fandom of various shows.
