After surveying a murder scene riddled with clues, Luke Byrnes had an idea of who the murderer was.

“I think it was the woman,” Byrnes, 11, of Highland Park, said.

Byrnes, along with other Highland Park kids, was taking part in the Junior Police Academy, held by the Highland Park Police Department Aug. 6-10.

During the academy, attendees between the ages of 9 and 14 were able to examine mock crime scenes where they could find clues and share their theories with one another, among other activities.
