There was no sand, but the Highland Park Public Library still looked festive for its beach party on July 31 with beach balls, limbo sticks and conga lines.

The party was held to celebrate the end of the library’s superhero-themed summer reading program, which ended on August 4.

“I think at the end of summer reading we want the kids to feel like they can celebrate their accomplishments, all of their reading and all that they’ve done,” Youth Services Librarian Alison Blaetz said. “How better to do that than to have a beach party?”
